If you are applying for a visa to migrate to Australia, you may require assessment for your nominated occupation by a relevant assessing authority for certain skilled migration visas. CPA Australia is the designated assessing authority for providing skills assessment services for the Department of Home Affairs (DoHA). It assesses your education, English proficiency and, work history (if necessary) to determine if you meet the educational standards and a set of predetermined criteria for your visa application. The CPA migration assessment is done for the following occupation:
- Accountant (general) (ANZSCO code 221111)
- Corporate Treasurer (ANZSCO code 221212)
- External Auditor (ANZSCO code 221213)
- It will improve your communication in a professional manner.
- Finance Manager (ANZSCO code 132211)
- Management Accountant (ANZSCO code 221112)
- Taxation Accountant (ANZSCO code 221113)
Assessment Validity
Here, you should also note that you can only have one valid positive skills assessment outcome with a validity of three years with DoHA from the outcome date. Also, your application remains valid for a period of two years from the application received date. You can apply for a review to change your ANZSCO code but your previous assessment outcome will no longer be valid.
Assessment with CPA Australia
- Full skills assessment: For employer-sponsored visas or point tested visas
- Provisional skills assessment: For Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to recent graduates (overseas) from any Australian university/college
Assessment Criteria and Requirements
For CPA migration assessment there are three components of the assessment criteria and requirements to determine your suitability for your chosenoccupation:
Degree requirement:Your graduation degree should be equivalent to at least an Australian bachelor’s degree for the CPA assessment. The compatibility of your educational qualification should meet the guidelines issued by the Australian Government’s Department of Education and Training. For provisional skills assessment to get a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485), the applicant requires to have at least an Australian bachelor’s degree.
Educational knowledge and competency:To meet the knowledge competency for CPA assessment, your educational qualification should cover all mandatory areas for your chosen ANZSCO code.
English language proficiency:It is mandatory for all applicants and they must qualify and achieve a minimum score in any of the following English language tests recognized by the CPA Australia:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- TOEFL internet-based test
- Cambridge English: Advanced (Certificate in Advanced English)
- Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)
- Skilled Migration Internship Program Accounting (SMIPA)
Documents Required
Applicants need to submit the following documents with their CPA migration assessment application depending on their qualification:
- A national ID card or copy of your passport’s photo page
- Proof of name change (if applicable)
- Official academic awards, and transcripts from prior studies
- Detailed syllabus for all qualifications
- Professional body qualification (if applicable)
